Congratulations Hallie Lancz! TOP FUNDRAISER for the entire metro region!!

Thanks for a Great Event!

On Saturday, May 30, 2009, over 70 teams came together in our nation’s capital as part of a new national movement to build awareness regarding the nation’s most common cause of disability – arthritis. Along with Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, participants sent the powerful message that they would continue to fight to ensure better support for those affected by the disease.

Despite personal struggles and economic circumstances, our volunteers, sponsors and participants broke through barriers and ensured the most successful Arthritis Walk year in chapter history! CONGRATULATIONS!

We look forward to a bigger and better event in 2010 as we build arthritis awareness and improve lives through leadership in the prevention, control and cure of arthritis and related diseases from our nation's capital.

Until then, we are still fundraising! For a list of events taking place, click here.

Our participants enjoyed...

  • Meeting our 2009 Arthritis Walk Champions and writing inspirational messages on the Wall of Heroes!

  • Taking part in a three-mile or one-mile walk around the Washington Monument and Tidal Basin.

  • Making some noise with DC's award-winning Dunbar High School Drumline!

  • LETTING TEDDY WIN! Joining "TEDDY" from the Washington Nationals to help the Arthritis Foundation win on the Hill with passage of the Arthritis, Prevention, Control and Cure Act!

  • Bringing their dogs to participate in the DC Doggie Walk and together with 2009 Dog Champion, "Timber", exercising to prevent and control canine arthritis.

  • Bringing the kids to help spread awareness about juvenile arthritis in the brand new DC KIDZ ZONE. An obstacle course made exercise fun while balloon animals and face painting were available for the less adventurous!

  • The fun, festivities and free Health & Wellness Zone while moving together towards a cure! FREE arthritis-related information and services were provided including an Ask the Doc booth, neck/upper back massages and health screenings.

  • Walking to the sound track of their lives and enjoyed the tunes of Oldies 105.9 and MIX 107.3

    It's a "Joint" Effort:
    Special Shout Out to CCFA!

Did you that know there is a close link between arthritis and Chrohn's Disease? Read more about this little unknown fact and continue to live the Let's Move Together movement at the 2009 Chrohn's & Colitis Foundation Walk at the Washington Monument on Saturday, June 20th. CCFA was kind enough to share some logistics secrets with us and we want to return the favor with this special shout out as we move together to prevent and control arthritis AND Chrohn's disease!
